Jedox is a provider of CPM software solutions and professional services. Founded in 2002, the company has grown to a team of more than 400 employees. The vendor serves more than 2,900 customers worldwide through its headquarters in Freiburg, Germany, its international offices, and a network of more than 200 partners and global alliances. Besides implementers, the vendor has a technology partner network that includes Microsoft (Azure, Office, Power BI, Teams, Dynamics, etc.), Salesforce/Tableau and Qlik. To accelerate customer growth and expand the company’s global footprint while enhancing its CPM platform, Jedox works with several global investment partners.
The company’s flagship product is Jedox, a flexible CPM platform with planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, dashboarding, analysis and financial consolidation capabilities. The solution offers both an Excel client and a web interface. The Excel add-in is a classic spreadsheet interface that combines familiar Excel functions with additional Jedox features. The web client has a browser-based spreadsheet interface – a kind of Excel on the web – with additional features. The software is available as SaaS in the public cloud (using Microsoft Azure) or can also be deployed in private environments, for example, using other cloud infrastructure providers (e.g., Amazon, Google or Microsoft), or on premises.
Jedox is aimed at business users who create custom CPM and analytics applications that require collaboration and data input from across the enterprise. Leveraging the product’s own in-memory database, users have a flexible multidimensional experience while staying in their familiar spreadsheet environment. Jedox Integrator, a web-based ETL tool, allows customers to integrate data into Jedox OLAP Server. It comes with many prebuilt connection types including an SAP connector. Additional connectors and integration solutions are available to access live Jedox data and reports from third-party systems via an OData interface (e.g., Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Power BI, Qlik). Trained business users can take on responsibility for administering and developing Jedox applications. These applications can be published to large groups of users via Jedox Web and Jedox Mobile. Both top-down and bottom-up planning scenarios can be implemented with Jedox. Furthermore, the platform is complemented by prebuilt solutions for various topics and industries, created by Jedox or partners (e.g., for financial planning and analysis, financial consolidation and close, sales performance management, S&OP, supply chain planning, workforce planning, ESG, etc.) as well as best practice accelerators (including prebuilt reports, database, rules, integration logic, framework of basic functions, etc.). This content is based on best practices and is available in Jedox’s own integrated marketplace.
In addition to comprehensive planning functionality, Jedox also provides reporting, analysis and dashboarding capabilities for business users. For reporting, Jedox includes a report designer in the web client, an Excel-like environment for creating reports that offers the flexibility to include any data and layout. With the introduction of Jedox Canvas, the platform has been enhanced with comprehensive features for responsive dashboards and management reports on any device. Business users can combine different report objects on a canvas to create custom dashboards by drag-and-drop without coding. In addition, Jedox’s powerful Excel add-in provides flexible options for navigating and analyzing data with classic OLAP functions such as drilling, slicing & dicing and pivoting. Both clients offer standard and advanced charts for visualizing information as well as IBCS-compliant charts. Being an open platform, Jedox also integrates with existing BI and analytics infrastructures and ecosystems and can extend them with its planning capabilities (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Qlik and Tableau).
Leveraging AI and ML in finance and CPM is a strategic initiative for Jedox. The vendor is continuously enhancing the platform with capabilities for automated data preparation, predictive forecasting, outlier detection and intelligent insights. Jedox AIssisted™ Planning provides a wizard-based web service in Jedox that supports predictive use cases. In addition, JedoxAI provides an AI search capability that uses natural language processing to help users query data by simply asking questions.

Eigenes Know-how aufbauen, um das System selbständig betreiben und weiterentwickeln bzw. Anpassungen vornehmen zu können. Wer komplett vom Dienstleister abhängig ist, verschwendet die Möglichkeiten, die Jedox bietet.
How would you sum up your experience?
Wer glaubt, auf ein BI-Modellierungstool verzichten zu können, liegt meiner Meinung nach komplett falsch. Wir reporten alles in Power BI, aber planen und modellieren sehr viel in Jedox – P+L, Profitcenterrechnung, unterjährige Bilanz wird in Jedox gerechnet (per Rules) und dann fixiert sowie relational ins Azure DWH übertragen. Das funktioniert bestens und ist für uns das optimale System. Diese Woche haben wir auf die neue Version 2024.2 migriert - ein Tag für das Testsystem mit anschließenden Tests, dann ein weiterer für das Prod-System. Alles läuft einwandfrei in der Cloud nach der Migration weiter.

Mit dem Start der Software Schulungen durchführen, um die Software wirklich zu verstehen und direkt richtig nutzen zu können. Wichtig ist, den Beratern ganz genau sämtliche Wünsche mitzuteilen - auch ob es sich um ein erstes Teilprojekt handelt und wie die Entwicklung fortgesetzt werden soll, damit das System korrekt aufgesetzt werden kann.

Sehr positiv - wir sind in der Holding mit Jedox gestartet, mittlerweile haben fast alle Geschäftsbereiche ebenfalls die Software im Einsatz, genau auf ihre Wünsche und Erfordernisse zugeschnitten, ohne dass es eine Anweisung gegeben hat. Auch die Implementierung zusätzlicher Masken und weiterer Anwendungen hat Jedox nicht an seine Grenzen gebracht; das Tool funktioniert sehr gut trotz hoher Komplexität.

Die flexible Gestaltung und die Tatsache, dass es immer mehrere Wege gibt, um die Funktionen umzusetzen.

Einige Weiterentwicklungen fehlen: Das UI ist etwas altbacken, und viele Planungsfunktionen lassen sich nicht leicht umsetzen (z. B. gestrichelte Linien, Übergang von Actual zu Budget in einem Liniendiagramm). Es gibt keinen richtigen Produktivsetzungsprozess und keine Anbindung an GIT. Dokumentationen oder die Herkunft von Datenpunkten sind nicht immer nachvollziehbar.

Modulweise zu starten und damit nach und nach die Excel-basierten Lösungen und Inselplanungen zusammenzuführen. Dadurch ergeben sich organisiertere Planungen, und man entdeckt Einsparungspotential.

Interface facile avec toutes les bases de données. Avec une connaissance avancée, il est possible d'être en grande partie autonome sur l'utilisation globale de Jedox. Approche très Excel, que ce soit depuis l'outil ou via l'add-in Excel (ou PowerPoint).

À ce jour, nous utilisons une ancienne version en attendant une évolution vers le Cloud. L'interface reporting doit être améliorée, notamment les graphiques et les bridges (waterfall). Il est important de bien définir son organisation et son arborescence de dimensions, car il est complexe et très impactant d'ajouter des informations sur des modules existants.

Dokumentation fehlt für komplexe und neue Funktionen, die Entwicklung scheint schneller zu sein als die Dokumentation. Teilweise sind die allgemeinen Beschreibungen nicht hilfreich in Bezug auf die Konfiguration. Keine Versionierung oder Branching (keine Anbindung an GitHub) erschwert Entwicklung in Teams. Visualisierung stark an Excel angelehnt und statisch, nicht alle Excel-Funktionen stehen aber zur Verfügung.

Mit einem Modul starten und im Coaching-Ansatz daraus Knowhow im eigenen Haus entwickeln und eine ordentliche Architektur organisieren, um die Module nebeneinander aufbauen und miteinander vernetzen zu können.

Sehr flexible Lösung mit niedriger Einstiegshürde, aber teilweise tiefgehenden Transformationsmöglichkeiten.

It has the power to dominate the market in a few years compared to its competitors, but developments and management are very important at this stage. Creating and designing scenarios as desired and having a flexible structure are the most important factors in this. Of course, even if it is about the same price compared to its competitors, you can get many features under a single license without paying any extra money.

Documentation and training resources could be better. Unable to find user community groups like other tools have. Customer engagement is getting better but still lags behind others such as Prophix. Workflow needs improvement.

Match your needs to the tool. Some have very good out of the box feature that could solve your problems. Others provide higher flexibility but require more dev.

Il faut s'adapter à la structure des données spécifiques. Amélioration à faire (en cours) sur le modèle BI et les graphiques.

Savoir si l'outil doit servir à des users finaux (rapport) ou bien à des power users autonomes. Chaque outil a ses forces et faiblesses (+ visuel ou + technique). L'intégrateur est très important car c'est lui qui construit l'outil selon un cahier des charges mais aussi son expérience.

Après 3 ans d'utilisation la montée en compétence est constante et les possibilités sont multiples si l'on imagine bien sa roadmap interne.
