The company is a global provider of professional information, software solutions and services within five global operating divisions: Health, Tax & Accounting, Corporate Performance & ESG, Finance & Corporate Compliance and Legal & Regulatory.
The CCH Tagetik expert solution provides a unified AI powered, finance-owned platform for financial corporate management (financial close & consolidation, ESG & regulatory, corporate tax and extended planning). Used by organizations of all sizes, CCH Tagetik is particularly attractive to midsize and large companies (or groups of related companies) with many users involved in financial consolidation and/or corporate planning processes. The comprehensive platform also covers areas such as account reconciliation, financial reporting, disclosure management and iXBRL, ESG and sustainability, corporate tax, IFRS 16, IFRS 17 and Solvency II. In addition, the CCH Tagetik applications marketplace includes predefined starter kits, pre-packages and technical solutions developed by partners and Wolters Kluwer. CCH Tagetik is available for deployment in the Amazon (AWS) cloud (Microsoft Azure is also available upon request) and on premises. According to the vendor, more than 2,000 customers worldwide across all industries currently use CCH Tagetik.
CCH Tagetik offers built-in consolidation functionalities and financial intelligence. The platform contains consolidation rules for all the different consolidation methods – full, proportional, at equity – and a predefined model for financial consolidation, particularly for the investment/equity consolidation. From a consolidation perspective, CCH Tagetik has a strong focus on decentralized web-based intercompany reconciliation with interfaces to transaction systems but also its Microsoft Excel integration for reporting packages. An integrated I/C cockpit supports automated intercompany eliminations. Regarding the different levels of subgroups, CCH Tagetik can perform multiple consolidations simultaneously. Furthermore, if data is available, matrix and segmental consolidations are supported. For debts and income/expense consolidation, individual rules for intercompany matching can be set up, including accounts for posting differences. Following the idea of an integrated financial statement, details such as asset history or changes in equity are included and considered in postings so that data is consistent. As a result, an integrated group cash flow statement is also part of the solution. Also, consolidation of budget/forecast data is possible thanks to CCH Tagetik’s tight integration of planning and financial consolidation functionality. Each entity can report according to its own local currency, which is translated into the group currency by the system. Comprehensive workflow and governance functionality (especially for bottom-up approaches) is available to control consolidation and planning processes.
From a planning perspective, CCH Tagetik focuses on financial and integrated business planning, supporting top-down, bottom-up and mixed approaches. CCH Tagetik includes a predefined financial planning model (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow) that can be used by individual subsidiaries or at group level. Consolidation of plans is possible thanks to integrated financial consolidation functionality. Comprehensive workflow and governance functionality is available to control planning and consolidation processes. The CCH Tagetik platform is supported by the Analytic Information Hub, which combines granular financial and operational data with flexible and scalable capabilities for open data modeling, financial performance management (e.g., regulatory reporting), operational planning and analytics. CCH Tagetik offers extended planning capabilities beyond finance, including sales and operations planning, supply chain planning and production planning.
From a technical perspective, the CCH Tagetik platform is built on an open and extensible architecture based on a relational data model that supports implementations in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and SAP HANA. In terms of data integration, CCH Tagetik connects with more than 300 systems (including ERPs, CRMs, HRMs, etc.) through APIs and dedicated connectors. CCH Tagetik has an optional certified SAP HANA platform with S/4 HANA native connector.
CCH Tagetik further empowers and automates the finance office by leveraging AI and ML for data management (including automapping and anomaly detection), transaction matching, driver-based analysis and predictive intelligence. For predictive forecasting, CCH Tagetik offers out-of-the-box or custom embedded predictive models and trainable ML capabilities based on Python that can be used to predict future outcomes. A new Intelligent Analytics solution with generative AI capabilities, Ask AI, helps users explore data, answer ad hoc questions, build dashboards and interpret data visualizations using natural language queries.
For reporting and analytics, CCH Tagetik has a dual strategy. The product’s built-in functionality is self-service, with on-screen reports and dashboards, as well as regulatory reporting use cases (e.g., ESG). Business users can create reports using a ‘matrix wizard’ in Excel. In 2024, CCH Tagetik introduced Intelligent Disclosure, a new collaborative solution to dynamically integrate consolidated financial, non-financial and ESG numbers and narratives through native integration with Microsoft 365 (Word and PowerPoint) and Copilot GenAI to create data-linked reports. In addition, CCH Tagetik’s embedded web-based tool, SmartInsight, enables dynamic ad hoc reporting and analysis. These capabilities can be complemented by third-party products (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, SAP and Qlik) that access CCH Tagetik data via an OData API, allowing customers to use their analytics tool of choice.

- For advanced BI and analytics, CCH Tagetik relies on third-party products such as Microsoft Power BI, SAP Analytics Cloud and Qlik Sense to complement the platform. CCH Tagetik itself offers self-service reporting and dashboarding, ad hoc reporting and analysis, Microsoft Word add-in-based disclosure management, a Microsoft PowerPoint add-in and a new Intelligent Analytics solution with generative AI capabilities for natural language queries.
- BARC’s ‘The Planning Survey’ confirms that slow performance is a challenge for some customers. In complex environments with large amounts of data and concurrent users, organizations should evaluate the most appropriate configuration to meet their performance needs. To assist with high volumes, CCH Tagetik is certified to run natively on SAP’s in-memory HANA database, providing a powerful option for complex implementations.
- According to customer feedback in this year’s survey, CCH Tagetik customers tend to be large, complex, global enterprises and their implementations are similarly large and complex, with phases for multiple solutions. Possible to build anything quick to run lots of data.

When doing anything bespoke (e.g., planning), you're entirely dependent on having a good solution architect; otherwise, it can be implemented quite poorly versus any of the out-of-the-box solutions. It's relatively inflexible compared to other tools I have seen for on-the-fly analysis.
What key advice would you give to other companies looking to introduce/use the product?
Don't use for planning. Use for regulatory solutions.

Love/hate. A lot of what Tagetik does is great, but it's also frustratingly difficult at times.

Do not hesitate to go for CCH Tagetik. We are a holding company with a lot of exceptions in ownership and consolidation, and CCH Tagetik has all the settings we need to run our (sub)consolidation.

Ease of use/user interface. It is user-friendly (as long as you configure the processes like that and use best practices).

Just after go-live (2015), we experienced many server disconnects. It is now better/acceptable, but from a connectivity and performance perspective, there is room for improvement.

Configure your processes based on the best practice; don't make it too complex and ensure you have a good implementation partner.

What do you like best?
The concept of processes that combine entities, accounts, calculations, and diagnostics to manage data entry and submission. The Excel interface with the matrix designer allows advanced dynamism to build almost any imaginable report combination. The easy parameterization to set up the consolidation. The spreading and breakback functionality for planning, which are forms of allocating data either across time or from hierarchy nodes to lower-level children.
What do you like least/what could be improved?
Documentation and announcements of new functionalities within the software itself, instead of gathering information from webinars or the Community website.
What key advice would you give to other companies looking to introduce/use the product?
Use only experienced consultants. Avoid the Big Four, who often do not have dedicated Tagetik consultants and may send juniors. Conduct much of the implementation yourself to gain more in-depth knowledge and provide easy support after go-live.

The ease of use. There is no need to seek the assistance of IT specialists. An ordinary finance employee with some knowledge of ERP logic can handle an admin role.

Audit trail in the design of reports.

Stay standard! As with all software implementations, adding special features is not a good idea, as we often discover later that something is not working as expected.

Find an implementation partner with lots of Tagetik experience. No juniors from big-4 firms. Contact reference customers.Take the opportunity to simplify your data model (COA) and monthly submission procedures. Start small and then add more functionality over time.

Very good. I now have more than 10 years of hands-on experience with Tagetik. All our users - from Europe to HongKong - are also very satisfied with ease-of-use.

Wolter Kluwer CCH Tagetik accelerate our close and budget process, we got complete transparency of close or budget process. It's one solution for the entire record-to report process. Close and budget data is used in our planning & forecasting. It's improved our efficiency.

You have many options and flexibility in the system, which makes it sometimes difficult for end-users to understand.

Le principe de workflow, la flexibilité qui en découle. Le lien avec PowerBI (à venir pour nos restitutions) et les nouvelles briques proposées (offre telle ESG...). Possibilité de volumétrie importante. Les évènements fréquents qui permettent de voir les futures évolutions et de partager avec d'autres utilisateurs.
