Have a dedicated power user or subject matter expert (SME) working full-time on the project. I was the dedicated power user for my company during implementation, and we know the project was successful because I was able to allocate 100% of my time to it.

Follow the online training courses, take time for the implementation and build your own templates.

Understand how data flows in and out of the system to avoid disruptions and provide ongoing training.

Have an internal resource for managing, maintaining, and helping implement it.

Investigate how the interface with the consolidation tool works.

Work with an implementation partner to get the most.

You will always need forecast champions.

Involve several people in building reports rather than just one or two. I feel it's harder to learn how to build your own reports when all the main reports are already built.

Plan your implementation well in advance, four to eight months, to be certain you will not have issues during implementation.

Good solution, relatively fast to deploy. Don't spend too long making it complicated. Use it and then add to it.

Pay for the EMS support, invest in it from the beginning to give yourself the best chance. And test reports!

Great budgeting tool and easy to use once setup has been done properly.

For any company interested in implementing Vena Solutions I will say that it is strictly necessary a long design period before doing any implementation, probably even including in the project some dedicated FTE in order to achieve all the requirements. The main issues always come from a poor initial design and those decisions in the beginning of the project will affect severely the whole development.

Really don't forget the time necessary on learnings to really use this as self-service tooling.

Start small, learn from first use case, then bigger implementations.

Appoint 2 persons from your organization that will run the implementation with implementation partner.

It is much better than Excel and is as good or better than most other companies we looked at or I have used previously.

Implementation would be difficult to do without some external support (either via Vena or an implementation partner). End-user adoption is simple and limited change-management to adopt.

You will never get rid of Excel. Embrace it, don't replace it.

There are a lot of good things about Vena and some things other tools are better at, so be sure what is important for you. Chose a good implementation partner and at the same time, train a dedicated inhouse team

Investigate reporting capabilities besides Excel.

Ensure you get assigned seasoned consultants. It makes all the difference.

Ensure you have the internal resources to help drive your project and make sure you dedicate enough time to testing.

Use an implementation partner, make sure multiple people and departments are involved in the implementation.

Build knowledge of Vena yourself asap and take at least 6-9 months for implementation.
